We have just had the mechanic on the boat and we need more parts for the transmission. It appears that it would be best if we got a new transmission. We know where to order one and we are working on a price...then we just have to figure out how to get it to Guatemala.
While he was in the engine room he noticed that we also have a loose motor mount. That does explain the strange new vibration that we noticed while coming up the river.
It is hard not to be frustrated and disappointed to have our cruising season cut short and then you remember that there are cruisers out there who lost their boats! So we are grateful for our little problems and we will continue on. The season may be over for us but hey, now we have time to get some other projects completed and may-be a little more inland travel.
